From request to trainer in three steps
K9PN is a referral service. We do not train dogs. Trainers set their own prices and programs.
Share your dog's age and breed, whether you want board and train, 1-on-1 sessions or virtual training (Florida only for now), and where you live. It takes about two minutes and costs nothing.
K9PN is a referral service. Based on what you need and where you live, we refer your request to a professional trainer who offers it.
The trainer calls you to talk through your goals, pricing and scheduling. You decide whether it is a fit.
What makes training in Florida different
Florida's climate and wildlife shape what a dog needs to know. Hot, humid weather limits when and how long you can train outside. Afternoon thunderstorms are routine in summer, and hurricane season runs from June through November, so dogs that are comfortable in a crate and calm around noise cope better when routines break. Ponds, canals and retention areas can hold alligators, and toxic toads and snakes turn up in yards, which makes a reliable recall and a solid "leave it" more than a nice-to-have.
Rules vary by county
Rabies vaccination, licensing and leash rules are set at the county level in Florida, so they differ depending on where you live. Hillsborough County, which includes Tampa, requires rabies vaccination and registration starting at four months of age. See the Tampa page for details, and check your own county's animal services page for the current rules.
Year-round health basics
Heartworm disease is a year-round concern in Florida, and most vets recommend year-round prevention. Ask your vet what your dog needs before starting group classes, boarding or board and train.
How we match you with a trainer
K9PN is not a franchise and not a directory where anyone can pay to be listed. We refer dog owners to experienced, independent trainers, and we look at the things that decide whether training works in real life:
- Real experience. How long the trainer has worked with dogs, what kinds of dogs and problems, and whether the person who trains your dog is the experienced trainer or a junior hire.
- Where your dog actually lives. A dog that spends the program in a crowded kennel room or a stack of crates does not learn to settle in a normal home. We favor trainers who keep few dogs and train in realistic settings.
- Training in the real world. Walks, public places, visitors and house rules, not only drills in one room.
- You are part of it. Lessons at pickup and follow-up, so the results last once your dog is home.

Common questions
Which Florida cities do you cover?
We are starting with the Tampa Bay area. If you live elsewhere in Florida, send a request with your city or ZIP code. Virtual training is currently available to Florida residents only, and we will tell you if we cannot match you with an in-person trainer yet.
What should a Florida dog learn first?
Most trainers start with the basics that make daily life easier: coming when called, loose-leash walking, settling calmly and leaving things alone on cue. In Florida, recall and "leave it" matter extra because of wildlife and water.
Is K9PN a dog training company?
No. K9PN is a referral service and does not train dogs. We pass your request to a professional trainer we work with who offers the kind of training you asked for and serves your area. It costs you nothing to send a request, and you decide whether to work with the trainer who calls you.
