German Shepherd and Malinois training in Knoxville, TN
German Shepherds, Malinois, Dobermans and Rottweilers are smart and driven, and they need a trainer who has handled them before.
- Free to request, takes about two minutes
- Board and train or 1-on-1 lessons
- A trainer calls you back
From request to trainer in three steps
K9PN is a referral service. We do not train dogs. Trainers set their own prices and programs.
K9PN is a referral service. Based on what you need and where you live, we refer your request to a professional trainer who offers it.
The trainer calls you to talk through your goals, pricing and scheduling. You decide whether it is a fit.
What high-drive breeds need
- A job and exercise. Bored, under-exercised dogs invent their own work.
- Structure. Clear rules, routines and boundaries from day one.
- Early socialization. Calm exposure to people, dogs and places.
- Impulse control. Waiting, settling and engaging on cue.
- An experienced handler. These dogs punish inconsistency.
Common problems
Pulling, jumping, mouthing, guarding, reactivity and over-arousal around toys or other dogs. Many of these are normal for the breed and can be channeled with training, not suppressed.
Choosing a trainer for a high-drive dog
Ask about experience with your specific breed, what methods and tools they use and how they build calm, not just obedience. A trainer who mostly works with easy family dogs may not be the right fit. If you want sport, protection or working-role training, say so in the request.
Other breeds
Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Goldendoodles, Pit Bulls and French Bulldogs each have their own tendencies. Mention your dog’s breed and age in the request.
How we match you with a trainer
K9PN is not a franchise and not a directory where anyone can pay to be listed. We refer dog owners to experienced, independent trainers, and we look at the things that decide whether training works in real life:
- Real experience. How long the trainer has worked with dogs, what kinds of dogs and problems, and whether the person who trains your dog is the experienced trainer or a junior hire.
- Where your dog actually lives. A dog that spends the program in a crowded kennel room or a stack of crates does not learn to settle in a normal home. We favor trainers who keep few dogs and train in realistic settings.
- Training in the real world. Walks, public places, visitors and house rules, not only drills in one room.
- You are part of it. Lessons at pickup and follow-up, so the results last once your dog is home.

Common questions
Are Malinois good family dogs?
Some can be, with the right owner, training and exercise. They are very high-drive and not a fit for every household. Talk to a trainer before you get one.
How much exercise does a German Shepherd need?
Plenty, including mental work such as training and games. Ask your vet and trainer for a plan that fits your dog's age and health.
When should I start training a shepherd puppy?
Right away. Start socialization, handling and basic manners early and keep lessons short and fun.
Can you find trainers for protection or working dogs?
Tell us in the request. Not every trainer takes these dogs, and we match them to trainers who do.
Is K9PN a dog training company?
No. K9PN is a referral service and does not train dogs. We pass your request to a professional trainer we work with who offers the kind of training you asked for and serves your area. It costs you nothing to send a request, and you decide whether to work with the trainer who calls you.
